Biography
Bob Kelemen earned a BFA in Graphic Design, an MFA in Visual Communication Design and an MS in User Experience Design from Kent State University. Kelemen has served for more than 30 years as faculty at regional universities and colleges, both public and private. His professional design practice includes a wide range of clients—from healthcare institutions, not-for-profits, start-up enterprises and arts organizations to large publicly-held companies.
His interest in design history informs his travel experiences and he enjoys sharing his love of design by chaperoning student trips to Chicago, New York City, Miami and international trips to Belgium, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
Kelemen has a special interest in letterpress printing, teaching workshops and classes as well as running his own letterpress studio, Black Walnut Letterpress, in his backyard barn. His research explores combining non-traditional and new technology elements alongside traditional printing techniques. He is excited to be assembling donated equipment and materials from Los Angeles to Rochester, NY in an effort to bring a letterpress studio to the Myers School of Art.
Kelemen’s graphic design work has been recognized in national competitions and his letterpress work been exhibited in gallery shows regionally, nationally and internationally.
