College of Engineering and Polymer Science students receive 2023 LIFE Awards

Congratulations to the following College of Engineering and Polymer Science students and student organization selected for this year’s University of Akron (¹ú²úÂ×Àí) LIFE Awards.
- Sayan Basak, pursuing a Ph.D. in polymer engineering, received the Doctoral Scholar Award.
- Melissa Cardew, majoring in mechanical engineering, received the A-Key Blue Award.
- Lily Coss, majoring in mechanical engineering, received the A-Key Gold Award and Outstanding Junior Award.
- Jose Carlos Garcia Barahona, majoring in electrical and computer engineering, received the A-Key Gold Award and Intramural Sports Individual Achievement Award.
- Tyrone Johnson, majoring in computer science, received the Diversity Award.
- Cecilia Mainzer, majoring in chemical, biomolecular and corrosion engineering, received the A-Key Gold Award and Outstanding Officer Award.
- Nadine Salem, majoring in mechanical engineering, received the Top 10 Senior Award.
- The Engineering Service Design Team received the Exceptional Civic Engagement Award.
The awardees were selected by members of ¹ú²úÂ×Àí’s Department of Student Life after applying or being nominated for the award and receiving a recommendation from ¹ú²úÂ×Àí leaders. Award recipients demonstrated excellence, integrity, and civic and social responsibility.
