Mathematicians from around the world gathering at ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Oct. 20-21
Some 400 mathematicians from around the world will gather at The University of Akron on Oct. 20-21 for the Fall Central Sectional Meeting of the American Mathematical Society (AMS).
Hosted by ¹ú²úÂ×Àí's Department of Mathematics, the meeting will feature invited addresses on topics ranging from finite group theory and complex geometry to knots and fractals. Also on the schedule are 21 special sessions about mathematics and math education, as well as a reception at ¹ú²úÂ×Àí’s Quaker Square Inn.

The Department of Mathematics is one of the largest units in the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Akron. It offers bachelor's and masters degree programs, as well as accelerated five-year B.S./M.S programs in mathematics, applied mathematics and applied mathematics/polymer engineering.
