The University of Akron's (¹ú²úÂ×Àí) Department of Chemical, Biomolecular and Corrosion Engineering is proud to announce its ChemE Jeopardy team secured another victory and is the back-to-back champion of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) North Central Regional Conference (NCRC).

After winning first place during their first appearance at the 2023 AIChE NCRC, members of ¹ú²úÂ×Àí's ChemE Jeopardy competed a second time at NCRC held at The Ohio State University on April 5-6, 2024. Ten available ¹ú²úÂ×Àí members formed two teams and competed against 16 teams from 14 various regional universities during the conference. The ¹ú²úÂ×Àí students who participated were Ryan Stapin, Gemini Ramlo, Kamryn Culp, Johnathan Bettes, Lily Clemente, Delia Weitzel, Cody Robinson, Kat Kunz, Nathan Kling and Sarah Fenik.

Both ¹ú²úÂ×Àí teams were advised by Dr. Bi-min Zhang Newby, professor of chemical engineering and associate chair of graduate studies for the Department of Chemical, Biomolecular and Corrosion Engineering, and advanced to the semi-finals after the preliminary rounds. They then competed in the same semi-final bracket since only one team from each university could compete in the final round.

During the final round, ¹ú²úÂ×Àí's Team B competed against Trine University and the University of Wisconsin. Trine was 400 points ahead of ¹ú²úÂ×Àí going into Final Jeopardy where one question is presented to all teams. ¹ú²úÂ×Àí came up with the correct answer, while Trine did not, and won the competition. Team B defeated other universities including The Ohio State University, University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin, Northwestern and Purdue to take home first place. ¹ú²úÂ×Àí's Team A, with the scores they earned during the semi-final, achieved a fifth-place finish.
