Growing up, Payton was always interested in chemistry. His community was very rural, and he grew up surrounded by oil and gas companies. After he job shadowed at a local Marathon plant, he fell in love with the industry and knew he wanted to pursue chemical engineering. He was familiar with ¹ú²úÂ×Àí’s excellent reputation in engineering, which led him to enroll in the chemical engineering undergraduate program.
Payton is a member of the ¹ú²úÂ×Àí student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and he plays intermural football and basketball.
“Beyond the obvious financial support, which of course I am very grateful for, it feels amazing to be recognized by the industry I am excited to have a career in,” says Payton.
Congratulations, Payton!
