Details about the Minor

A Minor in Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering provides a broad foundation in the synthesis, characterization, processing and design of polymers. Polymers are large molecules (i.e. macromolecules) that are ubiquitous in the world, ranging from plastics and rubber to protein and DNA.

  • 6 courses (18 credits)
    • 3 courses form the core curriculum
    • Practical experience through a laboratory course or real-world research project
    • 2 upper level elective courses in polymer science or polymer engineering
  • Designed to provide students with a broad foundation in polymer science and polymer engineering
  • Designed so that students can complete the minor by taking 1 course per semester
    • A student entering with no previous college credit is expected to begin the minor in the first semester of their sophomore year—after they have completed the initial math and chemistry pre-requisites.
  • Declare the Minor in Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering [PDF]
    • This application form (982100M) is to be completed and signed so you can officially declare the Minor.

A Minor that Complements Your Major
