The University of Akron Foundation was incorporated in 1966 and is organized and operated exclusively for the benefit of the University of Akron. Specifically, as a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization, the ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Foundation receives gifts on behalf of ¹ú²úÂ×Àí, manages and invests established funds, and administers them in accordance with donor wishes.

Alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations have a deep interest in supporting The University of Akron. To this goal, as the gift-receiving entity of the University, the ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Foundation has provided many new opportunities for students and faculty to grow and excel. Imparting tens of millions of dollars in student financial aid, lectureships, professorships, chairs, instructional grants, equipment funds, landscape improvements, and many other important initiatives, the ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Foundation is a vital part of supporting The University of Akron’s stature as a leading public university.

The ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and special committees who safeguard and manage its assets. These individuals are leaders in businesses and civic organizations throughout the Akron community.
